The SEBCoVE project has launched Europe’s first transnational Cost-Sharing Lab Networks (CSLNs), introducing a new collaborative model for vocational excellence in the Smart Electricity for Buildings (SEB) sector. These networks—now active in Crete, Italy, the Basque Country, and North Macedonia—enable VET centres, universities, and industry partners to share high-value laboratory equipment and digital tools. This shared-use approach reduces costs, expands access to advanced facilities, and strengthens cooperation within regional innovation ecosystems.
The CSLNs deliver significant benefits by:
- Reducing investment and maintenance costs through shared infrastructure
- Increasing access to modern SEB technologies and experimental equipment
- Enhancing collaboration between VET, industry, and research
- Supporting SEBCoVE’s modular curricula and micro-credentials
Crete leads with SEBLaN, the first fully operational CSLN, supported by a clear governance model and cost-sharing framework. Italy, Spain, and North Macedonia have developed their own regional or national networks, each aligned with local Smart Specialisation priorities.
By transforming how training infrastructures are shared and managed, SEBCoVE provides a scalable, sustainable model for future Centres of Vocational Excellence—empowering Europe’s green and digital transition through innovation-driven vocational education.
